Hello Beauties,
there is something happening just beyond Dubai. Ras Al Khaimah has long been one of our favourite UAE escapes for mountains, desert and long stretches of coastline, but the emirate is now entering a very different chapter. International hotel names, major new developments and a growing luxury hospitality scene are transforming it from a weekend escape into a destination with global ambitions.
The latest sign? Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority and Emirates have announced a new partnership designed to bring more international travellers to the emirate. But for us, the real story is bigger than one announcement. Ras Al Khaimah is quietly becoming one of the most interesting luxury travel destinations in the UAE.
Emirates Is Putting Ras Al Khaimah On A Bigger Global Stage
The new Memorandum of Understanding between Emirates and Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority is designed to increase visitor arrivals and strengthen the emirate’s visibility across selected international markets.
The collaboration is expected to include joint marketing and advertising initiatives, travel-trade and media familiarisation programmes, destination promotion and the potential development of tailored experiences and packages for Emirates customers.
It is an important move. Emirates connects Dubai with a vast international network, while Ras Al Khaimah is easily accessible from the city. For international visitors, that creates an increasingly compelling two-part UAE itinerary: the energy, restaurants and shopping of Dubai followed by a slower few days between the mountains, desert and sea.
The Luxury Hotel Scene Is Changing Fast
Part of the appeal is already firmly established. Ras Al Khaimah has attracted some of the world’s best-known hospitality names, creating a resort landscape that ranges from beachfront luxury to desert retreats and mountain escapes.
What makes the emirate particularly interesting now is the pace at which that landscape continues to evolve. New international hospitality concepts and large-scale developments are adding a more contemporary layer to the destination while established luxury resorts continue to draw travellers looking for space, privacy and a genuine sense of escape.
And space matters here. Ras Al Khaimah offers something increasingly precious in Gulf luxury travel: room to breathe. Beaches stretch further, resorts feel less compressed and the surrounding landscape becomes part of the experience rather than simply the backdrop.
Al Marjan Island Is One To Watch
If one place captures the scale of Ras Al Khaimah’s ambitions, it is Al Marjan Island. The waterfront development has become one of the emirate’s most important hospitality and lifestyle districts, bringing together resorts, restaurants, beaches and an increasingly high-profile pipeline of international projects.
The significance goes beyond individual hotel openings. Al Marjan Island is helping create a destination within the destination — somewhere travellers can stay for several nights rather than simply checking into one resort and remaining there.
For TBM, that makes it one of the most interesting areas to watch over the coming years. As more luxury hospitality, dining and lifestyle concepts arrive, the island is likely to play a central role in Ras Al Khaimah’s international positioning.
But The Landscape Is Still The Real Luxury
The hotels may be changing, but Ras Al Khaimah’s strongest asset is something that cannot be manufactured: its landscape.
The coastline gives way to desert and then to the Hajar Mountains, where Jebel Jais — the UAE’s highest mountain — creates an entirely different side of the country. It means a trip can move from a beach morning to a mountain experience or a desert evening without ever leaving the emirate.
That contrast gives Ras Al Khaimah a genuine sense of place. And as luxury travel increasingly shifts towards experiences, nature and destinations that feel distinctive, that may prove to be one of its greatest advantages.
What You Need To Know
The Destination
Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates.
The News
RAKTDA and Emirates are partnering to promote Ras Al Khaimah across selected international markets and increase visitor arrivals.
The Ambition
Ras Al Khaimah is targeting more than 3.5 million annual visitors by 2030.
Why It Matters
Luxury hospitality, Al Marjan Island, Jebel Jais, desert experiences and convenient access from Dubai are giving the emirate an increasingly distinctive travel proposition.
The 2030 Vision Changes The Conversation
Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority is targeting more than 3.5 million annual visitors by 2030, placing tourism at the centre of the emirate’s longer-term growth strategy.
Seen in that context, the Emirates partnership makes perfect sense. Aviation connectivity, international marketing, new hotel inventory and destination development are beginning to work together. Instead of travellers discovering Ras Al Khaimah only after arriving in the UAE, the ambition is increasingly to put the emirate on their radar before the journey begins.
That is a significant shift. Ras Al Khaimah is moving from somewhere you might add to a Dubai holiday to somewhere that can become part of the reason for travelling to the UAE in the first place.
Why Ras Al Khaimah Is On Our Radar
We love Dubai for exactly what it is: energy, fashion, restaurants, hotels and the feeling that something new is always happening. Ras Al Khaimah offers something different.
There is more space. More landscape. A slower rhythm. And increasingly, there is enough happening within its luxury hospitality scene to make the destination interesting far beyond a single weekend away.
The Emirates partnership is therefore not creating Ras Al Khaimah’s momentum. It is amplifying something that is already underway.
And with another generation of hotels, restaurants and destination experiences still to come, we have a feeling the question will soon stop being whether Ras Al Khaimah belongs on a luxury UAE itinerary.
It will be how many nights to stay.
From the Hajar Mountains and desert to an increasingly ambitious luxury coastline, Ras Al Khaimah is becoming one of the UAE travel stories we will be watching closely. Consider this one firmly on the TBM radar.
