Koch Theater at Lincoln Center, the New York City Ballet (NYCB) – part of the Broadway Collection – invites audiences into a world of dance, music, and timeless wonder.
At the heart of the season stands George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker – a performance that has defined New York’s holiday spirit for more than seventy years.

First performed in 1954, Balanchine’s version of the classic ballet remains an enduring symbol of Christmas enchantment. Under the soft glow of stage lights, the tale unfolds with its Sugar Plum Fairy, Mouse King, and a company of dancers whose precision borders on poetry.
Each evening at Lincoln Center becomes more than a show – it’s a ritual of elegance, a meeting of tradition and modern artistry.

The December program extends far beyond The Nutcracker.

A rotating repertoire presents both classical and contemporary ballets, with four short pieces per night that explore the past, present, and future of movement.
Highlights include Heatscape by resident choreographer Justin Peck, marking his tenth anniversary with NYCB and his 26th creation for the company.
Peck – recently honored with the Tony Award for his work on Buena Vista Social Club – continues to define what modern ballet can be: kinetic, architectural, and emotionally alive.

Inclusivity is also part of the NYCB vision. The company offers sensory-friendly performances with adjusted light and sound for visitors with specific needs – a step toward making the magic of dance accessible to all.

Funkelnde Kronleuchter, roter Samt und Schneeflocken, die im Bühnenlicht tanzen – im Dezember beginnt in New York die schönste Zeit des Jahres.
Wenn sich im David H. Koch Theater im Lincoln Center der Vorhang hebt, lädt das New York City Ballet (NYCB) – Mitglied der Broadway Collection – zur festlichen Saison voller Tanz, Musik und Magie.
Glanzpunkt ist traditionell George Balanchines Nussknacker – eine Inszenierung, die seit über siebzig Jahren Generationen verzaubert.

Seit 1954 steht Balanchines Interpretation für pure Weihnachtsstimmung – und das mitten am Broadway.
Unter den Lichtern und den goldenen Details des Theaters entfaltet sich das Werk mit Zuckerfee, Mäusekönig und einem Ensemble, das in vollendeter Präzision tanzt.
Ein Besuch im Lincoln Center ist mehr als ein Ballettabend – es ist ein Stück New Yorker Weihnachtskultur.

Doch der Dezember bringt noch mehr:
Das NYCB präsentiert ein vielfältiges Programm aus klassischen und modernen Werken.
Besonders bemerkenswert ist Heatscape von Hauschoreograf Justin Peck, der mit dieser energiegeladenen Choreografie sein zehnjähriges Jubiläum beim NYCB feiert.
Peck wurde in diesem Jahr mit dem Tony Award für das Musical Buena Vista Social Club ausgezeichnet – ein Beweis für seine kreative Bandbreite zwischen Broadway und Ballett.
