For the Immortal Beloved – NOMOS Glashütte Honors Beethoven’s 250th Birthday

GLASHÜTTE, June 2020 — To celebrate the 250th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven, the German watch manufacturer NOMOS Glashütte has created a special timepiece: the Tetra Immortal Beloved. A tribute to the mysterious woman immortalized in Beethoven’s famous 1812 letter, the watch combines timeless design, craftsmanship, and emotion — a declaration of love in mechanical form.

A Love Story in Time

In 1812, Beethoven wrote his legendary letter to the “Immortal Beloved.” The true identity of the addressee remains one of history’s great mysteries. Was it Countess Josephine von Brunswick, his piano student since 1799? Or perhaps Antonie Brentano, Giulietta Guicciardi, or the Berlin singer Amalie Sebald, with whom Beethoven shared passionate moments during the summer of 1812? Though historians can only speculate, one thing is certain — the letter’s recipient became a timeless muse.

Craftsmanship and a Secret Message

The new Tetra Immortal Beloved is a watch for those who love with eternity in mind. Meticulously handcrafted in Glashütte, it features a subtle secret: a hidden space on the case back, perfect for a personal engraving meant only for the wearer. The special edition stands out with its modern turquoise dial and gold hands — a contemporary interpretation of romantic heritage.

A Modern Classic

While the turquoise model is new, the Tetra design has long been one of NOMOS Glashütte’s most recognizable icons. First introduced decades ago, it quickly became a bestseller among rectangular mechanical watches. Featuring the in-house Alpha hand-wound caliber, it continues to represent the essence of Made in Germany precision and design excellence.

Handcrafted Tradition from Glashütte

Each NOMOS Glashütte watch is a product of the brand’s deep-rooted watchmaking heritage. Every movement is developed and built in-house — by hand — in the world-famous watchmaking town of Glashütte, where mechanical precision has been a tradition for more than 175 years.

The Beethoven Symphony Collection

The Tetra Immortal Beloved is part of the Tetra Symphony Series, a collection inspired by Beethoven’s works and spirit. The series includes four color variations: Turquoise (Immortal Beloved), Copper (Götterfunken), Olive Green (Ode to Joy), and Dark Blue (Fidelio). Each represents a symphony of craftsmanship, culture, and character — timeless pieces that bridge art and engineering.

The Tetra Immortal Beloved is available from authorized retailers starting at €1,660 (with steel case back).
