Louis Vuitton Celebrates 130 Years of Its Iconic Monogram

A heritage signature revisited through three anniversary capsule collections.

Hello Beauties,

Few symbols in fashion carry the weight, recognition and longevity of the Louis Vuitton Monogram. Created in 1896 by Georges Vuitton as a tribute to his father, the emblem has evolved from a practical anti-counterfeiting measure into one of the most enduring visual codes in luxury history.

To mark 130 years of the Monogram, the House introduces a dedicated anniversary release that looks back with precision rather than nostalgia. Three capsule collections reinterpret archival references through contemporary materials, techniques and finishes — reinforcing the Monogram not as a relic, but as a living design language.

Monogram Origine

The Monogram Origine capsule returns to the earliest visual expressions of the pattern. Rendered through a jacquard weave in a linen-cotton blend, the canvas appears lighter, softer and more tactile than the traditional coated finish. The muted pastel palette draws inspiration from archival client registers, subtly shifting the Monogram into a more understated, textural register.

Classic silhouettes — including the Speedy, Alma, Keepall and Noé — anchor the capsule, accompanied by select accessories and fragrances that extend the anniversary narrative beyond bags alone.

Vache Végétale Naturelle (VVN)

The VVN capsule places material integrity at the centre of the story. Crafted from vegetable-tanned cowhide, the leather develops a natural patina over time, reinforcing Louis Vuitton’s historic relationship with travel, craftsmanship and longevity.

Free from overt embellishment, the designs emphasise purity of form and finish. The result is a collection that feels quietly confident — designed to age, evolve and reflect the life of its wearer rather than resist it.

The Time Trunk

The Time Trunk capsule introduces a trompe-l’œil interpretation of Louis Vuitton’s archival trunks. First introduced under Nicolas Ghesquière and now revisited, the print recreates metallic hardware, textures and trunk detailing with graphic precision and a contemporary gloss finish.

Balancing heritage with modernity, the capsule underscores the Monogram’s ability to adapt — retaining its visual authority while remaining open to reinterpretation across generations.

Together, the anniversary capsules reaffirm the Monogram’s position not simply as an icon, but as an evolving system of design, craftsmanship and cultural relevance — one that continues to move forward without losing its point of origin.
