THE TBM TRAVEL EDIT / CRUISING
Meet Norwegian Bella
A new chapter for Mediterranean cruising begins in 2028 — and this time, it is as much about the space to slow down as the freedom to do it all.

Hello Beauties,
Imagine a week in which every morning opens on a different European horizon — and your suitcase stays exactly where it is.
From May 2028, Norwegian Cruise Line plans to bring its newest ship, Norwegian Bella™, to the Mediterranean with seven-night cruises departing from Barcelona. It is a significant debut for NCL, marking the final ship of its Prima Class and introducing a new combination of sprawling outdoor attractions, quieter adults-only spaces and a private suite enclave designed by Piero Lissoni.
For us, the real story is the contrast. This is not a small, discreet yacht; it is a major new cruise ship designed to let different generations travel together without expecting everyone to want the same holiday.
What You Need To Know

The Mediterranean, One Beautiful Stop At A Time
The ship’s inaugural voyages are designed around some of the region’s most coveted destinations. Planned ports of call include gateways to Rome and Florence, Salerno, Marseille and Palma de Mallorca.
There is an obvious pleasure in moving from Italian coastal towns to a French harbour or a Spanish island while returning to the same room each evening. Travellers should check the specific itinerary before booking: not every departure will follow the same sequence.

Why The Seven-Night Escape Still Works
For travellers based in Dubai and across the GCC, Barcelona is an appealing point of departure for a European summer journey. A cruise can become the centre of a longer itinerary: arrive early, enjoy the city and then exchange hotel transfers for seven nights on the sea.
We would resist the temptation to overplan every port call. A long lunch, one beautiful museum or a walk through a neighbourhood often says more about a destination than trying to cover every landmark in a day. The route is the invitation; how you spend the hours ashore is what makes it yours.
“The most appealing freedom at sea is having more than one way to spend the day.”
Ocean Heights, From Daylight To After Dark
Ocean Heights™ stretches across decks 18 to 21 and is designed to change mood throughout the day. Guests will find Eclipse Racers, Bella Free Fall, The Wave and the ten-deck dry slide The Drop — alongside a ropes course, mini golf and other open-air experiences.
After sunset, projections and LED lighting are expected to transform the space into an evening attraction. It is a clever way to make the upper decks feel like more than a collection of daytime activities.

Big Energy. Different Generations.
The Bella Midway brings a carnival-inspired atmosphere to the ship. Alongside it, the Moon Climber, a ropes course and dedicated spaces for younger children and teenagers are designed to keep families moving.
For a multi-generational trip, that breadth makes sense. Grandparents, parents and children can share the same journey without needing identical plans between breakfast and dinner.

And Then, There Is The Art Of Doing Nothing
The extended Ocean Boulevard and Infinity Beach will provide more space for slower afternoons, complete with ocean views, daybeds, pools and outdoor bars. The main pool deck is planned to be more than 15 per cent larger than those aboard Norwegian Aqua and Norwegian Luna.
But our first stop would be Vibe Beach Club, the adults-only retreat with infinity whirlpools, loungers and a sea-facing bar. On a ship this lively, having an intentionally quieter address makes an enormous difference.

THE SUITE EXPERIENCE
The Haven: Privacy By Design
The most interesting premium accommodation on Norwegian Bella may be The Haven by Norwegian®: 159 suites in a private-access, ship-within-a-ship enclave designed by Piero Lissoni. Planned spaces include a dedicated sundeck with an infinity pool, an outdoor sauna, cold room, exclusive dining and lounges, plus 24-hour butler and concierge service.
It is an appealing answer to a familiar question: what if you enjoy the destinations and amenities of a big ship, but want something that feels much more private at the end of the day?
A Ship With Its Own Point Of View
Norwegian Bella will also make an impression long before guests step on board. Australian mural artist George Rose has designed a vibrant botanical hull artwork, combining colour, movement and nature-inspired forms.
We like that the artwork gives a large contemporary cruise ship a personality recognisable from the shore. It is a confident choice — and another reminder that travel design is about far more than the interiors.

THE TBM VIEW
Who Should Put Norwegian Bella On Their Radar?
Norwegian Bella is clearly designed for travellers who want choice rather than quiet at every turn. There are family attractions, social spaces, an adults-only retreat and a distinct premium suite offering, all on the same ship.
For guests seeking the atmosphere of a boutique yacht, the scale may be too large. But for families, couples or groups who want to combine several Mediterranean destinations with contemporary entertainment and the freedom to choose how each day feels, Bella is worth watching.
Norwegian Bella’s first Mediterranean voyages are scheduled for May 2028 and bookings are open. Individual sailing dates, prices and inclusions should be checked through Norwegian Cruise Line.
One ship. Several versions of the perfect Mediterranean week.
