Trieste is Always a Good Idea!

Beauties,

As already announced in my last Weekly Review #2, it’s finally time – our story about our great love Trieste is online! Following our motto Trieste is always a good idea, we spent another unforgettable stay at our favorite Hotel Miramare.

Trieste is truly magical – this time we also combined our trip with a meeting for our online magazine. Crossing the border into Italy is always something special. We stop at our favorite Autogrill for a quick espresso and a Panini Capri – pure joy! It’s become our little tradition, accompanied by Italian music and Dolce Vita vibes in the car.

Arriving in Trieste

Once we arrive at our beloved hotel with a sea view, happiness takes over. Chuck, our Schnauzer, loves watching the sea – it’s his favorite thing in the world! It’s warm, around 15°C, and after unpacking our bags, we start planning our first afternoon in this coastal paradise.

Piazza dell’Unità d’Italia – The Heart of Trieste

For us, Trieste feels like a second home. We love the culture, the people, and the stunning architecture. The Piazza dell’Unità d’Italia takes our breath away every single time. Its history, elegance, and atmosphere are truly unmatched. During the holiday season, it’s beautifully decorated with lights – simply magical.

Café Culture & Aperitivo

Our absolute favorite café offers the best Aperol Spritz and friendliest service. We discovered it during our first visit and have been loyal ever since. Little bites with Prosecco, laughter, and people-watching – that’s how every evening in Trieste should begin.

Shopping in Trieste

Nothing beats shopping in Trieste’s charming city center. We love wandering through the boutiques in the evening – the locals come alive after dark, and the streets fill with laughter and elegance. From Gucci to local treasures, Trieste’s fashion scene is a delightful surprise.

Pizza, Amore & Dolce Vita

After a bit of shopping, it’s finally dinner time! Our favorite pizzeria never disappoints – delicious Bruschetta to start, followed by the perfect Italian pizza. Simple, authentic, heavenly. Life in Trieste flows at its own sweet rhythm – and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Morning Walks by the Sea

The next morning, we take Chuck for a long walk along the Viale Miramare. The sea glitters in the sunlight, and the air smells like salt and espresso. Back at the hotel, breakfast awaits – fresh croissants, Crostata al Limone, and of course, a glass of Prosecco to start the day the Italian way.

City Life & Hidden Gems

Trieste’s city center offers endless beauty: Piazza del Ponterosso, flower markets, and stunning old buildings. Every corner reveals another story. Even our morning encounters with locals – always charming and full of character – remind us why we love this city so much.

Café degli Specchi – The Living Room of Trieste

We always end our afternoons at the historic Café degli Specchi – the Café of Mirrors – located on the Piazza dell’Unità d’Italia. Founded in 1839, it’s inspired by the Viennese coffeehouse tradition and once hosted artists and writers like Italo Svevo and James Joyce. Here, coffee isn’t just a drink – it’s a ritual.

Vogue, Prosecco & Sunset

Before the evening sets in, I can never resist stopping at the kiosk to grab my Italian fashion magazines – Vogue Italia is always a must! Inspiration, espresso, and sunset views: the perfect combination before dinner at Hotel Miramare’s renowned restaurant.

The cuisine there is divine – from truffle tagliatelle to scallops and filet with Barolo sesame crust. Every bite feels like pure heaven. With the sea as our backdrop and a glass of wine in hand, we say Buona Notte, Trieste – until next time.
